Therminol® VP-3 is een vloeistof/gas fase thermische olie, die speciaal ontwikkeld is om bij lagere temperaturen in de gas fase te kunnen werken, lager dan praktisch met de traditionele diphenyl oxide/biphenyl samengestelde thermische olie zoals Therminol® VP1.
Therminol® VP-3 heeft een normaal kookpunt van 243°C, 14°C beneden het normale kookpunt van Therminol® VP-1. Laboratorium thermische stabiliteitstesten laten zien dat een maximale operationele temperatuur van 330°C mogelijk is in de vloeistof of gas fase. Een kristallisatiepunt van 2,4°C maakt het gemakkelijk om met Therminol® VP-3 te werken, zonder dat kostbare tracing systemen nodig zijn in milde klimaat omstandigheden.
