Activated Alumina (Active Aluminum Oxide)
White to cream-colored spherical beads with very high surface area (up to 415 m²/g), ideal for gas dehydration and specific ion removal.
Activated Alumina is made by calcining earth-bound bauxite and treating it to create thousands of tiny pores. However, each small bead packs up to 415 square meters of internal surface area. This is equivalent to a football field's surface area in a ball the size of a marble!
This enormous surface area makes Alumina exceptionally suitable for absorbing water molecules and certain dissolved ions. It is thermally stable up to very high temperatures, making it ideal for applications involving cyclic heating/cooling.
Unlike Silica Gel, Alumina does not cause volume expansion when it absorbs water, so it does not crumble or fragment in beds.
