Flushing a thermal system has become almost as simple as cleaning a car radiator these days. In severely contaminated thermal systems—often caused by the use of an incorrect thermal fluid—the heat transfer efficiency is no longer at the desired level, and the safety of the installation may even be compromised. Instrumentation lines, in particular, can become clogged in the process, with all the associated consequences.
For every contaminated thermal installation, Rodun International draws up a plan of action to restore a completely clean system, in which heat transfer is optimally restored and maintained. This plan depends heavily on whether the installation can be taken out of production. In practice, this is often not possible.
If production can be shut down, we flush the installation with our flushing oil for a specified period. This dissolves stubborn particles, deposits, and other contamination in a single, relatively quick and easy treatment, although this may take several days depending on the severity of the contamination. This approach prevents the need for multiple flushes, can be combined with HTF fluids, and the system can be refilled with new thermal oil immediately after flushing.
If production cannot be halted, we draw up a specific plan of action based on a chemical analysis, consisting of various steps. Typically, controlled flushing is then carried out during production using a thermal fluid with very high dissolving capacity. This approach is carefully monitored to prevent the dislodged dirt from causing new problems elsewhere in the system.
Rodun International has decades of experience cleaning contaminated thermal installations in virtually every sector. Are you unsure whether your system would benefit from a flush, or do you notice a decline in heat transfer? Then contact our service desk for no-obligation advice. We would be happy to review with you which approach best suits your installation and production schedule.
