CARBON MOLECULAR SIEVE (CMS)

CARBON MOLECULAR SIEVE (CMS)

Black pellets with extremely selective pores for oxygen adsorption, essential for PSA nitrogen generators and gas separation.

Carbon Molecular Sieve distinguishes itself from other materials by its unique pore structure, which is precisely tailored to the kinetic size differences between oxygen molecules (O₂) and nitrogen molecules (N₂). Although both molecules have similar dimensions, CMS adsorbs oxygen significantly faster than nitrogen.

In PSA cycles, compressed air is passed through a CMS bed under pressure, where it adsorbs oxygen much faster than nitrogen. When the pressure is reduced (desorption), the adsorbed oxygen is released, leaving pure nitrogen.

CMS is the key component in all small to medium-sized PSA nitrogen generators that you see in industrial facilities, medical institutions, and laboratories.
