Fragoltherm® W-PGA

Fragoltherm® W-PGA

Manufacturer Fragol® AG
Chemical name Hydrogenated terphenyls and biphenyl/diphenyl oxide
Water, the best and most economical medium for heat transfer, freezes at 0°C and has a corrosive effect on many metals and alloys. By mixing Fragoltherm® W-PGA with water, lower operating temperatures can be achieved, the boiling point is raised, and corrosive attack on metal systems is prevented at the same time.

The proven product Fragoltherm® W-PGA is an optimal fluid with additives that can be mixed with ordinary tap water for a wide range of applications. Sufficient corrosion protection is achieved starting from a glycol content of 30%.
Fragoltherm® W-PGA can be used for the following applications:

Heating
Process Temperature control
Underfloor heating
Air conditioning systems
Defrosting of coolers
Heat recovery
Solar installations
Ice production

Fragoltherm® W-PGA is almost completely odorless and biodegradable. It is compatible with common elastomers such as EPDM, PE, PP, and SBR. Separate data sheets are available for the technical and physical properties. Fragoltherm® W-PGA is free of amines and nitrites, thereby preventing the formation of nitrosamines.
Fragoltherm® W-PGA is based on propylene glycol and has even better toxicity values than Fragoltherm® W-PGA. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has universally recognized propylene glycol as a food additive in Part 182 of the FDA Food Additives Regulations.
Constant temperatures exceeding 170 °C lead to premature aging of Fragoltherm® W-PGA. Therefore, it is recommended to make the expansion vessels as large as possible for solar energy installations with a standstill temperature of more than 170 °C, so that the heat transfer fluid can flow out of the collectors and be captured by the expansion vessels when the maximum standstill temperature is reached.
