Rodutherm® W-PGA
Description
Water, the best and most economical heat transfer medium, freezes at 0 °C and has a corrosive effect on many metals and alloys.
Mixing Rodutherm® W-PGA with water enables lower working temperatures, increases the boiling point and simultaneously prevents corrosive attacks on metallic systems.
The proven product Rodutherm® W-PGA is an optimum additive-enhanced liquid that can be mixed with normal tap water for a wide range of applications. Sufficient corrosion protection exists from a glycol proportion of 30%.
Rodutherm® W-PGA can be used for the following:
- Heating
- Process temperature control
- Underfloor heating
- Air-conditioning systems
- Cooling coil defrosting
- Heat recovery
- Solar plants
- Ice production
Rodutherm® W-PGA is almost entirely odourless and biodegradable. It is compatible with the common elastomers EPDM, PE, PP and SBR. Separate data sheets are available for the technical and physical properties. Rodutherm® W-PGA is free of amines and nitrites, thus preventing the formation of nitrosamines.
Rodutherm® W-PGA is based on propylene glycol and has even better toxicity values than Rodutherm® W-PGA. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has recognised propylene glycol universally as a food additive in part 182 of the FDA regulations for food additives.
Constant temperatures of more than 170 °C lead to the premature ageing of Rodutherm® W-PGA. It is therefore recommended to make the expansion tanks as large as possible in the case of solar plants with standstill temperature of more than 170 °C so that heat transfer fluid can flow out of the collectors and be captured by the expansion tanks when the maximum standstill temperature is reached.
