Sodium sulfite
Sodium sulfite is an inorganic salt primarily used in industry as an oxygen scavenger, reducing agent, and preservative. The product is used in water treatment, paper production, textile processes, and various chemical production steps where controlled reduction or removal of dissolved oxygen is required, among others.
In boiler water and process water treatment, sodium sulfite helps to bind dissolved oxygen, thereby limiting corrosion in pipes, tanks, and installations. Additionally, it is used in pulp and paper applications, in photographic and chemical processes, and as an engineering additive in formulations where a stable and predictable reaction is desired.
Sodium sulfite is characterized by good solubility in water and an effective reducing action. These properties make it suitable for processes where product quality, plant protection, and control of oxidative influences are important. For safe and consistent application, correct dosage, product specification, and storage conditions are important within any industrial environment.
