THERMINOL® 55

Manufacturer Eastman®
Chemical name Synthetic hydrocarbon mixture
CAS number 84961-70-6

Therminol® 55 is a synthetic liquid used in the liquid phase of indirect process heating systems within the range of -28°C to +300°C.

Therminol® 55 is a synthetic liquid used in the liquid phase of indirect process heating systems within the range of -28°C to +300°C.

Therminol® 55 exhibits particularly high chemical stability compared to mineral thermal oil, resulting in an exceptionally good cost-performance ratio. With a viscosity of approximately 300 mm²/s at -10°C, this thermal oil is significantly easier to pump than most other types of mineral thermal oil. Where steam was used in the past, Therminol® 55 serves as an excellent alternative, offering significantly lower capital investment and much lower operating costs compared to a steam system. Therminol® 55 systems are highly versatile and are used for extruders, calender dryers, petrochemical plants, fuel heating on ships, storage tank terminals, heat recovery plants, and many other applications in the medium temperature range.
