Description
DOWTHERM® Q heat transfer fluid contains a mixture of diphenylethane and alkylated aromatics and is designed for use as an alternative to hot oils in liquid phase heat transfer systems. The normal application range is -35°C to 330°C.
DOWTHERM® Q fluid exhibits better thermal stability than hot oils, especially noticeable at the high end of the hot oil usage range [at temperatures above 260°C). In addition, the low temperature pumpability of DOWTHERM® Q fluid is significantly better than that of a typical hot oil.
Over the entire operating range, the low viscosity of DOWTHERM® Q fluid contributes to heat transfer efficiency. The film coefficient at 315 °C is 42 percent higher than that of a typical hot oil.
DOWTHERM® Q fluid is also non-corrosive to common metals and alloys, ensuring compatibility with most heat transfer systems.
