Therminol®-XP is a typical thermal pure mineral oil used in conditions where the possibility of food contamination cannot be excluded. Therminol® XP can be used within a range of -20°C to +315°C.
Despite the high quality of this thermal oil, the tendency to oxidation is present at higher temperatures, simply because we are talking about a pure mineral oil with an “FDA approval”, so excellent for use in the food industry. A nitrogen system on the expansion tank is a “must” to further prevent accelerated oxidation. There are really no thermal fluids that have FDA approval and do not need to be changed regularly. Especially in the bakery world, many incorrect products are used in thermal systems, often with serious charring in the pipe system, with all its consequences.
